Consent Agreements Under Section 37 (1) of the Health Professions Act:

June 2010
The Inquiry Committee approved a Consent Agreement, dated June 17, 2010 between CNPBC and Dr. Jim Chan, N.D. (the “registrant”), license # 64, under which the registrant has agreed to undertakings whereby the registrant has accepted a reprimand and agreed to comply with College financial relations with patients ethical guidelines in future. The Inquiry Committee is satisfied that the undertakings will protect the public and the temporary suspension previously in effect is terminated and the registrant is reinstated.

The Inquiry Committee has ordered the temporary suspension of Dr. D. Eugene Pontius, N.D. (“the registrant”), license number 11, pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing against him. During the suspension the registrant must not engage in the practice of naturopathic medicine or hold himself out as being a registrant, must not make appointments for patients or prospective patients, and must not communicate with patients except to inform them of the suspension or to refer them to another registrant. The temporary suspension and citation for a disciplinary hearing involve a complaint concerning the standard of care provided by Dr. Pontius, the lack of meaningful response to the College over a long period of time regarding the complaint and a number ofcommunications with the College deemed to be inappropriate.  The temporary suspension is intended by the Inquiry Committee to protect the public. Dr. Pontius’ business address is 393 Kinchant Street, Quesnel, B.C., V2J 2R5.
